PUBLIC COMMENT AND HEARING NOTICE FOR THE WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY MULTIJURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN

Williamsburg County, along with the involvement of the towns of Kingstree, Greeleyville, Hemingway, Lane, Stuckey, and Andrews, is in the process of updating the Williamsburg County Hazard Mitigation Plan in accordance with the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. This plan is required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in order for local communities to be eligible to receive certain federal grants and funding related to hazard mitigation projects.  

A public comment period will begin September 14, 2023 and will conclude on October 16, 2023.  A public hearing will be held at 5:45 pm on October 17, 2023 at the Williamsburg County Council Chambers at 201 W Main St Kingstree, SC 29556. County residents, representatives of neighborhood associations or civic organizations, and local business or industries and other interested parties are encouraged to comment and/or to attend the hearing to learn about this planning effort and provide input on needed changes/updates to the plan. The draft plan is available for review on the Williamsburg County Website at: https://www.williamsburgcounty.sc.gov/. Comments may be submitted via email to vivian.bufkin@wc.sc.gov or by mail to: Emergency Management Division, 2086 Thurgood Marshall Hwy, Kingstree, SC 29556.
