Solid Waste & Recycling

Williamsburg County Citizens *(Please Share)*

Christmas is not only a time to receive but to give. I understand that households accumulated a large amount of trash on Christmas day and wanted to do something special to help clear your house of trash and show our appreciation during these uncertain times.

With that in mind, I have decided to open seven recycling centers, one in each district on Christmas Day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.  County team members have graciously agreed to volunteer their time to assist me in this endeavor.

Although we cannot open all recycling centers, we will open the following locations from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Christmas Day.

Public Works Recycling Center-190 County Camp Road, Kingstree

Indiantown Recycling Center- 5037 Hemingway Highway, Hemingway

Mouzon Recycling Center-1573 Sumter Hwy, Kingstree

St. Lawrence Recycling Center-5421 US Highway 521, Salters

Hemingway Recycling Center-81 Spring Pond Road, Hemingway

Central Recycling Center-885 F. Guerry Road, Kingstree

Greeleyville Recycling Center-8 Pine Street, Greeleyville

Please remember that this is a special opening!

Updated 2021 Recycling Center Hours

Our main goal is provide citizens a convenient way of recycling and solid waste collection. One of the highest priorities in recent years in Williamsburg County has been the construction and development of 20 recycling sites to replace the old ’green boxes’ as well as the establishment of a serious recycling effort.

The Solid Waste department operates 4 roll-off trucks to maintain solid waste collection at the recycling centers.

Recycling Program Grant Assistance

South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, Office of Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling has helped us structure our recycling programs with grant assistance.

Landfill Closure

County Council is very mindful that the county landfill is rapidly filling, and approaching its scheduled closure date.
